Note on rental properties

According to the Código Civil (Civil Code), the tenant pays the agreed commission as a brokerage fee in the case of seasonal contracts or fixed-term short-term contracts. In addition, non-residents and persons who are not registered at the rental address as their main residence in Spain or who are not liable for tax in Spain must also pay the agreed commission for the brokerage. Depending on the rental period, the (freely negotiable) commission is 1 to 1.5 months’ rent plus IVA (VAT).
